It has been suggested that the uncertainty of the US regulatory environment is one of the main causes of the pullback in the crypto markets over the past two months.
It is therefore very pleasant to find that blockchain and cryptocurrencies are the subject of a chapter in the 2018 Economic Report issued by the Joint Economic Committee Congress of the United States….and that it is very positive on the technology.
The report notes that in 2017 ‘These new innovations and markets presented America’s regulatory and legislative institutions with unique challenges as well as technology that could revolutionize the world’s digital landscape and economy.’
And that ‘Government agencies at all levels should consider and examine new uses for this technology that could make the government more efficient in performing its functions’.
I must say that while this is a good start by the US Government to get its head around this emerging technology, I think the Bank of Finland’s 2017 Report, is by far the best government report (here) that I have seen on this topic.
